Phillip qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Phillip started his recruiting career with Michael Page, where he became Managing Director of their international executive recruitment business. He moved to Mervyn Hughes then on to Deloitte & Touche, where over ten years he built the Executive Search & Selection practice in the UK and led Human Resource Consulting across the largest of the firm's UK regions. In January 2000 Phillip left Deloitte & Touche with Andrew Guy and Andrew Cholerton to found PGC.
Andrew Guy BEng(Hons) Andrew's early career was in engineering with IBM and Jaguar Cars. He subsequently joined HM Forces, passing out of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an infantry officer and serving for three years in Northern Ireland and Cyprus. On leaving the forces, Andrew entered the executive recruitment profession with Whitehead Mann in London, before moving to Birmingham with Norman Broadbent (NB Selection). In 1996 he joined Phillip Price at Deloitte & Touche. In January 2000 Andrew left Deloitte & Touche with Phillip Price and Andrew Cholerton to found PGC.
Andrew Cholerton BA(Hons) On graduation, Andrew joined a small, privately owned engineering business. Within six months he was appointed General Manager and managed the company through a period of consolidation followed by sustained growth. He left to join the Army and after officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, spent eleven years in the infantry seeing active service in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Kuwait. On leaving the Army after the 1st Gulf War, Andrew enjoyed a successful period in the financial services sector, before joining Radcliffe Gower, a small management consultancy offering executive recruitment and management development programmes. A move to Deloitte & Touche followed where he worked with Phillip Price and Andrew Guy before starting PGC with them in January 2000.
Robin McWilliams MA(Oxon) ACII Robin was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and educated at Durham School and Oxford University. After graduating with a degree in Modern History, Robin moved to London and entered the recruitment business when he joined Michael Page – where he first worked alongside Phillip Price - recruiting newly qualified accountants from the profession into industry and commerce. Robin first began to specialise in financial services when he joined a boutique City headhunting firm owned by one of the worlds largest insurance broking groups. Since then he has successfully handled many assignments for Lloyd’s brokers and syndicates, insurance and reinsurance companies, investment banks, credit card companies, mortgage providers, fund management organisations and actuarial and other consulting organisations. As a balance to these large clients Robin has also acted for a number of Owner Managed Businesses. In addition to business leaders such as General Managers and CEOs, Robins assignments have included a wide range of financial service and management professionals such as IT, finance, claims, risk management, customer service and human resources specialists. Robin has particular experience of multiple recruitment and team building exercises as well as single engagements to find a specific individual. Robin is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Stephanie O'Riordan BA(Hons) After graduating, Stephanie joined a large UK employment agency where she pursued an early career in IT recruitment, predominantly placing consultants with global consulting firms. She was then recruited by the Executive Search and Selection practice of Harvey Nash where she extended her experience to include executive search and selection assignments for senior IT and telecoms professionals for retained clients across the UK. For the last five years, Stephanie has worked on a wider spectrum of executive positions, both recruiting for and advising clients in the private and public sectors, formerly with Harvey Nash and more recently with PGC.
Diane Southwick BA(Hons) MInstFF MIEx Diane’s early career was in Freight Forwarding and Logistics. She gained extensive experience in international logistics and turnkey project movements with Geologistics, and major shipping lines. Diane ran her own recruitment business in the supply chain sector for four years. She then joined a major high street recruitment business as branch Manager before returning to the logistics industry in marketing and business development with Hogg Robinson and NYK. During this time, she completed her degree in Business Studies & Transport and also qualified in UK and International Market Research. In 2000, Diane returned to the recruitment industry with MVP where she successfully built the Freight and International Logistics division, before her arrival at PGC. Diane is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Member of the Institute of Export and Graduate Member of the Institute of Freight Forwarding.
Catherine O’Reilly BA(Jt Hons) In her early career, Catherine worked at the Munich Headquarters of Allianz, the leading German re-insurance company. She subsequently joined the Executive Search & Selection practice of Harvey Nash where she focused on developing business relationships with senior IT practitioners throughout the UK and Europe. Following her early success in senior IT appointments, Catherine has significantly broadened her portfolio of clients to include all manner of organisations for which she has recruited at board and executive level. She has been particularly active in the public, legal and support services sectors. Since joining PGC in 2005, Catherine has played a major part in the continuing development and maintenance of PGC’s extensive network of senior contacts.
Mark Spragg BA(Hons) Chartered MCIPD Mark entered the Royal Military Sandhurst on graduation and was commissioned into the infantry. He served in the UK, Germany, Australia, Canada and the Middle East rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He saw active service during the Gulf War of 1991. As a Senior Staff Officer he was the liaison officer to the Welsh Assembly and co-ordinated Army recruitment initiatives across the principality. Since leaving the army Mark has been the Corporate Services Director of a charity in South Wales and the Marketing Director of well known Welsh recruitment business, before joining PGC in 2007. Mark has recruited senior executives for a variety of organisations and has particular market knowledge of South Wales, the South West and the M4 corridor. He is experienced in all recruitment methodologies including search and selection and has designed and run a diverse range of assessment events. Mark holds Chartered MCIPD status and has valuable experience and knowledge of commercial business, charities and local, regional and central government.
Carol Evans Carol is PGC’s Office Manager. She has been with PGC from its earliest days in 2000 and is the primary point of contact for internal operational matters at PGC. She was previously Assistant to the Managing Director of a leading Midlands-based magazine publishing and exhibitions company.
Jill Gardner Jill provides comprehensive support to the consultants in the transaction of assignments. Before joining PGC, Jill was PA to the Human Resources Director of one of the UK’s largest power companies and previously HR Assistant at various blue-chip organisations, including a major construction PLC and large professional services firm.
PGC Associates Jose Freedman Jose is an executive level human resources professional with over 25 years' experience. She has worked as the HR leader for Scottish Power PLC, Jaguar Cars PLC, LDV Ltd and Warwick District Council. Most recently she was Group HR Director of Wilson Bowden PLC. With career experience of manufacturing, engineering, utilities, construction and local government Jose has proven expertise in strategy, change management, employee relations, resourcing, employee communications, succession planning and executive development. Her General Management coaching and mentoring is equally applicable to directors and executives whether in SMEs or PLCs. Jose works with PGC on, inter alia, the development of suitable human resource strategies to support successful achievement of business plans, including: remuneration and benefit strategies; employee relations strategies (unionised and non-unionised); and team and individual development programmes.
